The beginning: a frustrating hunt
A while back, the founder of KUC decided to try buying a used car from South Korea himself. The pitch was tempting: cars in excellent condition, high trim levels, and prices significantly below the local market. But the moment he started the practical steps, he hit a complex reality and a user experience full of obstacles.
Between the Korean language barrier, the absence of clear information about the steps, and the complications around tax and customs calculations, he found himself in front of an exhausting process. The most frustrating part was pricing — every site quotes in USD, putting the buyer into an endless loop of FX conversions and guesses about hidden fees, just to figure out what the real final cost would be.
An engineer's lens: from problem to platform
As a software and cloud-solutions engineer, he couldn't accept that an Arab buyer's experience had to be this bad and this complicated. Technology exists to make our lives easier — so why should the search-and-select process for a car stay locked inside messy Excel sheets and unclear phone calls?
He realised the Middle East market needed a real digital platform — one that builds a bridge of trust and transparency so importing cars from the Korean market becomes easy. So he decided to convert that personal pain into a full technical solution, and started architecting and building KUC.app.
Building KUC: a platform that makes the decision easier
When he started architecting the platform, the goal was to deliver a tool that makes it easier for KUC's customers across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, and Egypt to make the right decision. Not a translated front-end — but a platform that understands what the buyer in each country actually needs, and supports them at every step.
The vision rested on two non-negotiable pillars:
- Bilingual support (Arabic/English): to fully break the language barrier and deliver accurate, clear, easy-to-read information.
- Financial transparency in local currency: non-negotiable. Pricing logic, taxes, and customs calculations render directly in local currencies (SAR, AED, JOD, EGP) so the buyer knows the door-to-door cost in their own currency — no surprises.
Launching toward the future
After months of architectural and engineering work to ensure platform stability and speed, April 2026 was the milestone — KUC.app officially launched to the public.
Watching the platform actually help users browse cars, understand the customs charges for their own country, and make informed buying decisions was the moment it became clear: technology can simplify even the most complex commercial processes.
The journey doesn't end here — the launch was just the beginning. We're now working on expansion and on building new tools that will make the search-and-select experience easier than ever, so KUC remains the trusted tool that helps you own your Korean car with as little friction as possible.
